Manage Your Spectrum Mobile Account Activity

Perhaps one of the most impactful features of your Spectrum Mobile Account app is the ability to switch your plans right from within the app. All you need to do is select “Activity,” scroll to find “Your Lines” and finally choose “Change Plan.” From there, you can pick your desired plan and save your changes. This can be especially helpful for customers who start off a billing cycle on a By the Gig line.

By the Gig users receive one GB per month to get started and are then charged $14 for each GB of data they consume during that billing cycle. Don’t worry: plans with multiple By the Gig users can share the extra GB of data added to a plan (but they can’t share their initial GB of data). If any single By the Gig line exceeds 3GB of data, that line becomes more expensive than the Spectrum Mobile Unlimited line, which is currently no more than $45 per line. If you have more than two Unlimited lines, though, Spectrum lowers your price to $29.99 per line. If that promotion applies to your current plan, then you might have an incentive to switch to an Unlimited plan even sooner.

To save money, customers can switch to the next plan level up at any time in their billing cycle. A caveat to this function is that you can only switch your lines to the next plan level below at the beginning of the next billing cycle (which includes, for example, if you wanted to switch from an Unlimited plan down to a By the Gig plan). In other words: you can switch from a By the Gig plan to an Unlimited plan whenever you’d like, but you have to wait until the beginning of your next billing cycle to switch your Unlimited plan to a By the Gig plan.

How do you know if you’ve exceeded your data allowances? You can check that right in the app! Review your total data usage for your whole plan or for individual lines in your plan by logging in and choosing “Review Activity” from your “Activity” tab in the app. You can pull up this information at any time when you have Spectrum Mobile, so you can bid surprise overage charges farewell forever!

At this time, though, the “Review Activity” function of the app does not allow users to see any data consumed while using a 5G connection. This may not matter to some customers because By the Gig lines do not support 5G devices to begin with. The missing 5G data would instead be more noticeable for users on the Unlimited and Unlimited Plus plans who pay special attention to their premium data amounts. You can get around this by viewing your data usage on your device settings instead.

Some extra features to enjoy in your “Activity” tab include the ability to add nicknames to each line on your account so that you can keep them straight. This can be especially helpful if any members on your plan are using the By the Gig service so you can gather an idea about how much data each line is consuming.

The “Billing” tab on your Spectrum Mobile Account app can help you with anything related to your account details and payments. For example, you can view how long you have left to your billing cycle as well as other billing and payment details so you can stay on top of your account whenever you want. You can manage your Auto Pay from the app, too! If you’re interested in your past orders and statements, these are also available via your Spectrum Mobile Account app. Finally, you can check out calling and texting details for the lines associated with your account, which may be helpful if you misplace an important phone number.
