Internet Without Filter Kit (Without Phone)

What you’ll need:

  • Green data cable
  • Power supply cord (2 parts)

Follow the four easy steps below to install your internet without a filter kit.

Step 1 – Connect
Once you have located the green data cable in your kit, locate the broadband jack in your home. Connect the green data cable to the green Broadband (DSL) port on both the Gateway and the wall jack.

Step 2 – Power it up
Wait (approximately 10 minutes) for the Gateway to successfully power up. You will know it is powered on once the “Broadband” and “Service” lights turn a solid green color.

Step 3 – Set up Wi-Fi
Go to “settings” on your mobile device or computer and select your “Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID),” then enter the 12-character password which is located on the sticker on your Gateway. If you have already registered, then you are finished. If not, then you need to follow the online instructions to complete your registration that appear when you open your browser.

Step 4 – Customize with the Smart Home Manager app
Using the Smart Home Manager app, you can personalize your Wi-Fi network name and password. If you don’t have the app, you can also go to att.com/smarthomemanager. Once you update this information, you can then connect all your other devices using the new password you created.

Internet With Filter Kit (With Phone)

If you are installing AT&T internet with phone service as well, you will need to use these specific instructions in order to install your phone filter with your internet.

Step 1 – Register
If you have not yet already preregistered your internet service, you will want to download the AT&T Smart Home Manager app from the app store or visit att.com/smarthomemanager and click “New User.” Follow the prompted instructions. Once you see “Registration Complete,” close the app but don’t delete it because you will need it later.

Step 2 – Install Phone Filters
This is the step that is important for those with home phone service through AT&T. You can either use a single-port filter which is for phone or fax only, and plugs directly into the wall jack, or a dual-port filter for Gateway and phone which plugs into both the phone and Gateway, and then into the wall jack.

Step 3 – Connect Gateway
For digital home phone service OR no phone service, connect the green data cable from Broadband (DSL) port to the wall jack. For digital home phone service only, connect the gray cable from the Phone Lines 1 & 2 port to the phone. Then connect the power supply to the electrical outlet.

Step 4 – Set Up Wi-Fi
Now, open the Smart Home Manager app and sign in. Select “Help.” Follow the prompted instructions to set up your Wi-Fi.

Adding on Voice to Your Existing Service

If you already have a service with AT&T but you want to add Voice, you’ll want to follow this specific set of instructions in order to install your Voice service.

Step 1 – Connect Phone to the Gateway
Connect your new phone to your gateway’s port (lines 1 & 2) using a phone cord.

Step 2 – Activate Your Phone
You can either call 877-377-0016 and follow the prompted instructions or go to go to att.net/uverse and enter your Account Number and Passcode.

Step 3 – Set up Voicemail
Dial *98 from your new phone and follow the prompted instructions. You will create a Voicemail PIN and then be able to set up your authentication code.

Adding on Internet to Your Existing Service

Follow the instructions below to add internet on to your existing service with AT&T.

Step 1 – Unplug & Reconnect
Unplug the power cables from the back of the gateway as well as the Receivers. Then, plug them all back in and wait approximately 10 minutes for the lights to turn to a solid color.

Note: Do not unplug during this 10 minutes because it can permanently damage the equipment.

Add AT&T Internet to existing devices

Step 2 – Connect Gateway and Set up Wi-Fi
First, go to “Wireless Network Settings,” then select “Wi-Fi Network name” and enter the password that is located on the yellow sticker on the Gateway. If you have not yet registered, then open your browser and follow the prompted instructions

Step 3 – Download the App
Now you need to download the AT&T Smart Home Manager App and sign in with your AT&T user ID and password. Utilize this app for personalizing your network settings and change the network name and password to something you will remember. You can also connect additional devices at this point.

Important

Note: Make sure you wait until 2 p.m. on the date of your service activation (located on your packing slip) until you start.
