The name change is straightforward. If you are a Suddenlink customer, or live in a Suddenlink service area, that company used to be branded as Suddenlink, but it is now Optimum. The only thing that changes about the service is its name. If you live in a historically-Optimum area, like the New York City metropolitan area, nothing at all changes. The service is still Optimum.
To put both brands under one name, Altice USA chose the stronger performer, so they chose to go with Optimum for its nationwide internet and TV service, which can now be found branded as Optimum throughout 21 states.
How Does Suddenlink Changing to Optimum Affect Service?
If you are a Suddenlink customer, the name change to Optimum does not affect your internet or TV service. Even before the name change, Suddenlink had the same parent company, Altice USA, and had the same prices for service that Optimum customers in the New York City area paid.
The only historical difference between the Suddenlink and Optimum brands was fiber internet availability. Depending on your address, this fiber availability is still a factor in your service possibilities, but Optimum operates a cable internet infrastructure present in 21 states. This means that even if fiber isn’t available, cable internet very well could be.
